The city was founded in 1614 by Sulejman Pasha Bargjini, originating from the village of Mullet and was mentioned for the first time Tirana’s name is mentioned in 1418 in a Venetian document. Tirana became the temporary capital of Albania on 9 February 1920 by the Congress of Lushnja and National Council members entered the city on 11 February 1920.
